Reader’s Question:

Hi there. I would like to know if my Washington auto insurance company will notify me if they will not be renewing my policy before it policy will expires? I hope they do so I would have more time to find other company.

Michelle

East Seattle, WA

Generally yes, most Washington auto insurance company will notify you in advance whether they will not going to renew your policy.

In Washington State auto insurance companies are required to provide a twenty (20) day written notice with regards to non-renewal of a personal auto car insurance policy and a ten (10) written notice for cancellation due to non-payment of premium.

If you would like to know more information regarding this I suggest that you contact states insurance regulator. They will be able to give you more understanding what the insurance laws in your state regarding cancellation or non renewal notice or Washington auto insurance companies. They will also be able to inform you how much time are given to policyholders once the insurance company decides not to renew them.

Reader’s Question:

I need to get SR22 to reinstate my license because I was convicted over three months ago for DUI here in Washington State. I may just have to ask help from an insurance agent to make it easier for me. How would I choose the best one from an array of agents willing to sell me the coverage I want?

Rafael

Bellevue, WA

Getting back of the road is very important for people who have been convicted for Driving Under the Influence. You are right in saying that it will be easier to get the coverage that you need if you seek the help of an SR22 insurance agent. There are a lot of agents in Washington State willing to extend their helping hands for you so you need to examine each one of them.

One of the most crucial issues you need to know about agents is the amount of experience that they have in the car insurance industry. Recently, there has been growth in the population of agents in the US promoting their cheap auto insurance. Unluckily for a lot of drivers who have opted to go with these agents, when they file a claim, it would be almost impossible to reach a resolution regarding the claim or even speak with anybody that could provide you details about it. Make certain that the SR22 insurance agent has experience in the car insurance business and the company has been established for longer than several years.

It is very important to shop and speak with several agents to file your SR22 form, purchase only what you need and review your policy prior to making a decision on which policy to get. Also, to get the most out of your car insurance policy, the best and experienced person to contact is insurance agent.

Reader’s Question:

I would like to know when auto insurance companies in Washington check driving records?

Carol

Spokane, WA

An insurance carrier in Spokane, WA can check your driving record anytime. The most common times that they check your driving records are:

  • when you apply initially for auto insurance coverage
  • when you request a change to your car insurance policy such as adding or removing drivers, change auto insurance coverage, etc.
  • when you add a car to your car insurance policy or change the covered car
  • when your car insurance policy comes up for renewal
  • every two renewal cycles

Some insurance providers use a random method for checking driving records. Other insurance providers randomly spot check some car insurance policy records at the above intervals. This isn’t common, however it may happen with some car insurance companies.

Reader’s Question:

I currently have full coverage on my vehicle and I went to test drive another vehicle that is not covered. My question is, will my insurance cover it if I were to have an accident? I live in Everett, Washington.

Liv

Everett, WA

Typically this would not be covered under your auto insurance policy in Everett, Washington.

This would be covered under the used car’s owners policy or used car dealer’s policy.

Most auto dealers will have full insurance coverage on your insurance policy, which is called a garage policy. If you sign something taking responsibility for the damages then you would be responsible for those damages. It’s up to you to reject or accept the offer of a test drive based on your knowledge of potential liability.

Reader’s Question:

Cheers to my promotion in Washington! I will soon be eligible to buy a brand car and I am both excited and anxious. Anxiety results from my ignorance with auto paper works and insurance. So what do I need to know when buying auto insurance policy in WA?

Matty

Bellingham, WA

Congratulations, Matty!

If you want to save on your car insurance here are a few tips that can help you as you search for vehicle insurance.

The best thing you need to do is comparison shop. It cannot hurt to shop around to check what other prices are out there. If the auto insurance price is higher you know you are where you need to be and if you find a lower car insurance rate you always have the option to change.

Another way to lower your car insurance premium is by increasing deductibles. The portion of money you pay before the insurance carrier pays for injuries or damages is called a deductible. You may save hundreds of dollars over the term of your car insurance policy if you choose the highest deductible that you can afford.

Some insurers provide various discounts so make sure you ask if there are insurance discounts that you can take advantage of. You may obtain insurance discounts for lower mileage usage if you live close to your job. Discounts are also given for safety features such as anti-lock breaks and airbags. So make sure you always ask for discounts when buying auto insurance in Bellingham Washington.

The best way to save on you car insurance premium is to maintain a good driving record. Your driving record is also a major determining factor on how much the car insurance premium rate will be. If you can maintain a safe driving record, without accidents or traffic violations on your driving history, your rates will be cheaper compared to those with violations on their driving record.

Reader’s Question:

How long after purchasing a vehicle do you have to obtain insurance in the State of Washington? What do I need to do to get a free quote?

Carl

Spokane, WA

According to the Office of the Insurance Commissioner for Washington state, the State requires individuals that operates a motor vehicle to have liability insurance. There is no grace period for car insurance liability.

The Washington state insurance regulator states that all insurance providers have different time requirements to add a newly acquired car to the policy. You would need to verify with your insurance company to know if there is a grace period for adding that new car to your existing policy.

If you do not already have an car insurance policy on any cars but are purchasing a vehicle then normally you will need to get insurance before leaving the lot with the vehicle. You can provide an insurance provider information on the car in advance so that the policy can be started.

To get a quote, just ask, call, email or submit your zip code to the advertisers to start the quote process.

Reader’s Question:

My daughter just got her license and I would like to know if it is better for her to get her own policy or should she be listed on ours?

Anna

Seattle, Washington (WA)

It is usually less expensive and easier for a newly licensed teenage motorist to be added to their parent’s car insurance policy than to start up their own insurance policy, especially if it is a teen and they do not own their own car. If your daughter does own her own vehicle then she may get her own insurance policy, but if she is a minor than a parent or guardian will need to sign on the contact with her.

If you have not already done so, inform your car insurance provider that your has become licensed. At this time they should be able to inform you if they require you to add her to your insurance policy or how to set up her own policy on her vehicle.

Q: Can I save money on a non owner Spokane SR22?

A: Saving money on a non owner Spokane SR22 car insurance policy is going to be harder than saving it on another policy simply because, without a car to take into account, car insurance companies are going to assume that the vehicles you’re driving are riskier than average. I wouldn’t be financially viable for them to assume otherwise.

If you do intend on saving money on your Spokane SR2 for non owner drivers, here are many discounts which do not have to do with cars which you may be able to get. For one, you can get discounts which involving taking driving classes, or you can get student discounts for any school going people on your policy, senior discounts for the older drivers. If you are a teacher, you can join a union for a discount, or get a discount from a car group you join.

If you end up buying a car for yourself, you will have more discounts available, but you will have to let go of your Spokane SR22 for non owner drivers and get a regular car insurance policy.

Vancouver Washington SR22 Auto Insurance Quotes

Q: Since I’m required to have a Vancouver SR22 car insurance policy, aren’t companies supposed to sell one to me? Because I can’t find one.

A: No car insurance company is required to sell you insurance when you pose so much risk, as all holders of SR22 policies do. While car insurance companies aren’t able to discriminate based on unrelated reasons, such as the color of your skin or your religion, they are able o discriminate based on how much risk you pose, or, in other terms, how many claims people in your demographic are likely to file.

If you have trouble finding someone to get your policy from, you should try higher priced companies which sell to people with expensive cars and other high risk types. It’s easier to get a policy from one of these, although not certain, and it’s also cheaper than the other alternative.

If you can’t find a way in that way, then instead you can get a policy by joining up with your state assigned-risk pool, where the Department of Insurance will randomly hand you over to a car insurance company, which will have to insure you (at a very high price) even if they already denied you when you went there on your own.

Reader’s Question:

I live in Washington. I just want to know how long do I have to get an insurance after I purchased a car?

Mikaela

Thank you for asking Mikaela.

According to the Office of the Insurance Commissioner for Washington state, the State requires individuals that drives a motor vehicle to have liability insurance. There is no grace period for liability.

In addition to that, insurance regulator for the state of Washington states that all insurance providers have different time requirements to add a newly acquired car to the insurance policy. You may contact your insurance provider to get information regarding grace period for adding that newly acquired motor vehicle to your existing insurance policy. Most dealers require physical damage coverage on the car before it leaves the dealership.

If you have car insurance already on other vehicles and purchase a new car that needs to be added to your insurance policy you may contact your insurance company to make know if your insurance policy will extend to the new car for a certain amount of time or if you must add the car immediately to the policy to be covered.

If you do not have a car insurance policy yet on any vehicles but is planning to buy a car then you will need to get car insurance before leaving the lot with the car normally.

Goodluck!
